Various news outlets have reported that Andy Mushietti will be directing the live-action film adaptation of the Attack on Titan franchise. David Heyman will be working as the producer for the film alongside Masi Oka and Babara Mushietti. Andy will be directing the film at Warner Bros., who has recently finalized the deal with Kodansha, the publisher for the manga series.
For those who are not aware the “Attack on Titan” franchise was created by Hajime Isayama in 2009. The manga series later received an anime adaptation in 2013 produced by Wit Studio & Production I.G. The series was previously adapted into several live-action films in Japan and a live-action web miniseries in 2015. Funimation Entertainment licensed the series in North America and the series aired on Adult Swim’s Toonami block. “Attack on Titan” is set in a world where humanity who live in large cities protected by walls to protect them from giant beings known as titans.
