Anime NYC: TMS Entertainment Announces Megalo Box Sequel

Today at Anime NYC, TMS Entertainment announced that they are currently developing a sequel to their anime series Megalo Box. For those unaware, Megalo Box is an original story and production that commemorates the 50th anniversary of Ikki Kajiwara (Asao Takamori) and Tetsuya Chiba’s manga, Ashita no Joe. The series features, a man called JD (Junk Dog) who participates in underground boxing matches. However, these matches require people use metal frames to enhance fights, and make them more lethal. The first season of Megalo Box premiered on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) in April 2018, and the series was simulcast on Crunchyroll. The series was licensed and distributed by Viz Media in North America, while the dub premiered on Adult Swim’s Toonami. You Moriyama (Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Attack on Titan) directed the series, and was in charge of conceptual design. The scripts were provided by Katsuhiko Manabe (Fist of the North Star), and Kensaku Kojima (Shinya Shokudō live-action). Whereas, the series score was composed by Mabanua.
