Ava DuVernay to Direct DC’s “New Gods”

It has recently been reported via various media outlets that Ava DuVernay is set to direct DC’s New Gods,”  which is the latest project in the DC Extended Universe. It has also been revealed that Kario Salem is set to to be the head writer for the project. The film is based on the comic series with the same name by Jack Kirby that was released in 1971.  The New Gods have also appeared in other various comic storylines throughout the years.

For those who are unaware, the New Gods are natives to two planets in the DC universe known as New Genesis and Apokolips. New Genesis is an utopia ruled by the Highfather, while Apokolips is a world filled of chaos ruled by the powerful Darkseid. The residents of both planets proclaim themselves Gods as they live outside of the boundaries of reality in a realm known as the Fourth World.

Currently no other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.

Personally I think it is quite interesting to see that Warner Brothers has another project for the DCEU in motion set around the New Gods. Seeing as their popularity warrants their inclusion it will be fascinating to see how this develops.
