Banpresto Dissolves & Merges with Bandai Spirits

Today, the toy company Banpresto has been dissolved and merged into Bandai Namco Holdings’ subsidiary, Bandai Spirits. This news was reported via the National Printing Bureau’s Kanpō publication which revealed Bandai Spirits has taken over all rights and duties of the former company.

Banpresto was originally founded in 1977, as Hoei Sangyo, Co. Ltd. before being renamed as Coreland in 1982. The company eventually became a partial subsidiary of Bandai in 1989, leading to the company’s success. However, in 2006 that is when Bandai Namco Holdings became a whole owner to Banpresto, thus making it a full subsidiary.

Whereas, Bandai Spirits was established over a year ago on February 15, 2018. This subsidiary of Bandai absorbed the figure and plastic model business, and the convenience store products from Banpresto. The company upon its time of establishment had a capital stock of 100 million yen (roughly $923,000 USD) and nearly 450 employees.
