Marvel Studios has recently updated their official twitter page with the home video announcement for Captain Marvel. The film will first be available digitally on May 28 and will be released on Blu-ray / DVD on June 11.

Marvel Studios provided a description for the film.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom. On Digital May 28 and Blu-ray™ June 11!
Personally I actually liked the film even though it was definitely not as grand as some other films that were released in third phase of the MCU. The film still has some great moments that help it stick out and it was a pretty decent origin story for Captain Marvel. It was also an interesting experience to see a film being set in an earlier time period of the MCU.
