New Star Trek Animated Series Greenlit

Earlier this year, it was reported that a new animated series based on the Star Trek franchise was being considered for Nickelodeon. It was also reported that Kevin and Dan Hageman would be working as the head writers on the project. Today Variety has reported that the series has been greenlit. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kaiden, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Rath will be working as the executive producers. Aaron Baiers has been brought on to be the co-executive producer on the project. Polygon has reported that Alx Preston, the creator of Hyper Light Drifter, has confirmed that a TV series is in production based on his game. For those who are not aware Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action role-playing game developed by Preston’s indie studio, Heart Machine. The game was released for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016. The game later was released for the Nintendo Switch in September 2018. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Noah Centineo is in talks to portray He-Man in the upcoming Master’s of the Universe live-action film. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway will work as the screenplay writers on the project. Adam and Aaron Nee will be directed the film at Sony Pictures. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will be the producers on the project.
