D23 2019: Marvel’s “The Eternals” Details & Black Panther II Release Date Revealed

The Hollywood Reporter has reported about the details that were for both Marvel’s The Eternals and Black Panther II that were unveiled at D23 2019.

First, it was revealed that Black Panther II will premiere in theaters on May 6, 2022. Not much else is revealed about the film at this time, however it is nice to see when the film will be making its premiere in theaters.

Lastly, two new cast members for Marvel’s Eternals were revealed. The first cast member that was revealed was Kit Harington, who will be joining the cast of Marvel’s Eternals as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight. In the comics Dane was the third character that went under the alias, Black Knight. This iteration of the Black Knight was created by Roy Thomas and John Verpoorten with illustrations by George Tuska. Dane made his appearance in The Avengers #47, which was released in December 1967.

The second revealed cast member was Gemma Chan, who will be taking the role of Sersi. This isn’t the first time Gemma Chan has played a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she previously portrayed Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. In the comics “Cerce” was created by Jack Kirby and first appeared in Strange Tales #109, which was released in June 1963. She later appeared in The Eternals #3, which was released in September 1976, and was renamed “Sersi.”

The confirmed cast now consists of:

  • Kumail Nanjiani: Kingo
  • Lauren Ridloff: Makkari
  • Brain Tyree Henry: Phastos
  • Salma Hayek: Ajak
  • Lia McHugh: Sprite
  • Don Lee: Gilgamesh
  • Barry Keoghan: Druig
  • Kit Harington: Dane Whitman
  • Gemma Chan: Sersi

Marvel’s The Eternals will premiere in theaters on November 6, 2020.

No other details about both projects are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
