Variety has reported that Daniela Melchior is set to portray Ratcatcher in “The Suicide Squad.” She will be joining the previously announced cast members, which includes David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Idris Elba, Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and potentially John Cena.
In the comics, Otis Flannegan aka Ratcatcher debuted in Detective Comics #585, which was released in April 1988. The character was Alan Grant, John Wagner, and Norm Breyfogle. Otis was originally a rat catcher in Gotham City who eventually turned to a life a crime. He has the ability to control over an army of rats and is one of the various antagonists of the Batman.
While the original incarnation is male, in the film Ratcatcher will be female and is said to have some connection to Idris Elba’s currently unnamed role.
