Deadline has recently reported that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will no longer be working on the production of a new Star Wars film trilogy due to scheduling complications. Earlier in 2018, it was announced that the duo of Game of Thrones fame was set to produce some new Star Wars films. Later it was reported that they would be working on a new trilogy outside of Skywalker saga that were set to release starting in 2022. Although they will be leaving the production of the new film trilogy, it is stated that they will be allowed to return to work on future Star Wars projects.
Benioff and Weiss had this to say with their recent interview with Deadline.
“We love Star Wars,” the pair said in a statement to Deadline. “When George Lucas built it, he built us too. Getting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything.”
