“Echo” Spin-Off Series in Development for Disney Plus

Variety has reported that a spin-off series based on the Marvel Character Echo is in the works for Disney Plus. For those who are not familiar with the character, Echo is a deaf Native American character that made her debut in Daredevil #9, which was released in December 1999. The character later went under the name “Ronin” in The New Avengers #11, which was released in November 2005. The character was created by David Mack and Joe Quesada. According to Variety, the character will be portrayed by Alaqua Cox, who will apparently make her debut in the upcoming “Hawkeye” Series.

In the comics, Maya Lopez aka Echo was sent to a special education institution at an early age. At the institute, she learned she had the skill to duplicate songs from a recital. She was later adopted by the Kingpin when her father was killed. Throughout the course of the comics she would fight against Daredevil, Moon Knight, and the Avengers. Later in the comics, she eventually passed the title of Ronin to Hawkeye.

No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
