Fathom Events to Release Shin Ultraman in US Theaters

Recently, Fathom Events updated site regarding the official theatrical announcement for Shin Ultraman, as a special two day event. Alongside the standard subtitled version of the film, a English Dub will also be available for viewing. The news was first announced during the Ultraman panel at Anime NYC 2022 earlier today. For those unaware, the film is a modern adaptation of the original Ultraman series from 1966. Shin Ultraman is directed by Shinji Higuchi and written/ produced by Hideaki Anno who previously collaborated together on Shin Godzilla.

Now, Shin Ultraman was originally released in Japan earlier this past Summer. Additionally, the Japanese format of the film received several screenings in North America via a film festival tour. Furthermore, the following is the official description for the film as provided by Ultraman Connection.

Shin Ultraman follows the continued appearance of giant unidentified life forms known as “S-Class Species (Kaiju)” – now commonplace in Japan. Conventional weapons have no effect on them and having exhausted all other options, the Japanese Government issued the S-Class Species Suppression Protocol and formed an enforcement unit, known as the SSSP.

Now, Shin Ultraman will be presented by Fathom Events on January 11 and 12, 2023 in accompanying theaters. However, theater locations and ticket prices are not currently available through their service. So, fans should keep tabs on Fathom Events within the coming weeks for further updates on Shin Ultraman’s availability. Also, to better entice fans we can confirm that the film is a true love letter to the original series. Whereas, the film features roughly seven amazing tokusatsu battles, recreating elements from over six episodes, and an Ultra Q prolog. Additionally, for those viewing the subtitled version, they were provided by friend of the site, and Ultraman Max’s Sean Nichols. Anyway, we are getting carried away with ourselves, but we hope everyone seeks this film out when it releases!
