GAMERA -Rebirth- Trailer Streamed

Recently, Netflix released a trailer for the upcoming anime series “GAMERA -Rebirth-.” For those unaware, GAMERA -Rebirth- is the first animated series in the Gamera franchise, with previous adaptations being live-action films. Originally, the franchise was created by the Daiei Motion Picture Company, to be a competitor to Toho’s Godzilla films. However, Daiei was eventually purchased and consolidated into Kadokawa Corporation in the early 2000s. Whereas, the first film, “Gamera, the Giant Monster,” released in 1965, and received various sequels due to its popularity.

 

Now, the following is a description for the series as provided by Netflix:

The Netflix Series “GAMERA -Rebirth-” starts streaming worldwide in 2023!
Gamera, the giant monster which has been beloved by Kaiju fans across the globe since the 1960s, faces off against five enemy creatures across six episodes in this new animated series.

Currently, the cast includes:

  • Hisako Kanemoto as Boko
  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Joe
  • Aki Toyosaki as Junichi
  • Subaru Kimura as Brody

 

Then regarding the series staff, Hiroyuki Seshita and Keisuke Ide will be the directorial team. Also, Seshita provides the series composition alongside Kenta Ihara and Hiroshi Seko, who wrote scripts with Tetsuya Yamada. Whereas, character design is provided by Atsushi Tamura, and kaiju by Kan Takahama who worked on the Heisei Gamera films. Finally, Shūji Katayama is composing the series’ score, and sound director is Yoshikazu Iwanami.

 

Currently, Gamera -Rebirth- does not have a definitive release date, but it is scheduled for later this year. The series will consist of six episodes, and feature the titular Guardian of the Universe battling against five kaiju. The first kaiju revealed by production was Gyaos, but recently Jiger was confirmed before the trailer dropped through toy listings. Anyway, we hope fans of the giant turtle look forward to his epic return in anime form!
