Holiday Buyer’s Guide 2017 Day 1: Marvel, DC, & Star Wars

Welcome to Hero Club’s annual Holiday Buyers Guide! This year we open with products related to Marvel, DC Comics, and Star Wars. These products pertain to basic retail toys to high-end collectibles. One may have to go outside the normal retail stores like Wal-Mart, Target, or Toys R Us to find these, but we assure our readers that these are great items!

 

Marvel

  • Marvel Legends Thor: Build-a-Hulk MSRP: $19.99

The Marvel Legends Thor: Build-a-Hulk wave is one of this year’s best assortments from Hasbro. It features a wonderful combination of Thor: Ragnarok and comic characters. One of the most sought-after figures in the line is Cate Blanchett’s portrayal of Hela. However, the runner-up as the next best figure is Thor (Jane Foster).

 

  • S.H.Figuarts Spider-Man MSRP: 6264 yen/ $99.99

Tamashii Nations has added Spider-Man from Captain America: Civil War, and Spider-Man Homecoming to the S.H.Figuarts line. S.H.Figuarts Spider-Man is regarded as one of the best Marvel Figuarts to date. However, its North American release is slightly disappointing due to a drastic hike in its price. Never the less, either option for its release and distribution is awesome piece to add to one’s collection.

 

  • Marvel Legends 12-inch Hulk MSRP: $74.99

The 12-inch Marvel Legends are becoming more popular in the past few years. Now, the line adds the Incredible Hulk, who is the largest figure in the series currently. From the addition of the Hulk, one can immediately wonder who may be the next giant to be added to this scale of figures!

 

  • Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Defenders Box Set MSRP: $79.99

This Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends set features all four of the Defenders, as seen in the comics. Now, Most of these figures have already been seen in the basic retail waves, or as a part of other box sets. However, this is the first time a box set is being dedicated to all four Defenders: Daredevil, Iron Fist, “Powerman” Luke Cage, and “Jewel” Jessica Jones!

 

  • Marvel Toybox Figures MSRP: $12.99

Disney has begun creating the Toybox Figures; figures based on their various properties and designed in the style of Disney Infinity pieces. The Marvel Toybox Figures consist of Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and Thor. Each figure has various points of articulation, and can double as a basic child’s toy, or collectible figurine.

 

DC

  • Toys R Us Exclusive Multiverse Parademon MSRP: $19.99

Mattel’s Multiverse line spans across all of DC Comics. However, with the release of Justice League in theaters, waves have been made to commemorate the film. Now, Toys R Us acquired exclusive rights to sell one of the figures, that being the Parademon. The figure is one of the few figures to show no issues within its production such as loose joints, or paint applications.

 

  • S.H.Figuarts Batman (Justice League) MSRP: 6264 yen

Tamashii Nations is working towards adding the entire Justice League to their S.H.Figuarts line. One of the first members to be released is the Dark Knight, himself, Batman! Currently this product has just released in Japan, so it is also one of the fresher items in the Buyer’s Guide. People may want to purchase this directly from Japan through online stores like Amiami or Hobby Link Japan to make sure this item arrives on time.

 

  • Justice League Ultimate Batmobile RC Vehicle & Figure MSRP: $249.99

This item is one of the most expensive choices on our Buyer’s Guide this year! The Ultimate Batmobile RC Vehicle features several abilities from its internal lights and sounds to recreate the vehicle. In addition, to having working lights and engine effects, the turrets can rotate, as well as features an added “jump mode.” One of its extra features is a built-in POV camera for one to immerse themselves further with this remote controlled Batmobile.

 

  • Multiverse Flash 2 Pack MSRP: $39.99

The Multiverse Flash 2-pack is an exclusive set for Target! The set contains a DC Rebirth Flash figure, with a clear Justice League film, “Erza Miller” Flash. The clear “Erza Miller” Flash is meant to be a recreation of his super-speed, and luckily enough there are effects to boost the visuals!

 

  • BBTS Exclusives Batman the Animated Series GCPD Rogues Gallery with Bonus Commissioner Gordon MSRP: $174.99

This is one of the best deals people will find for the GCPD Rouges Gallery set, because BigBadToyStore is including the Commissioner Gordon figure with each purchase. Now, the actual set features a total of five figures: Renee Montoya, Mr. Freeze, Posion Ivy, Killer Croc, and Bane. In addition, it features a deluxe packaging that recreates GCPD and hosts working lights. It is literally asking people to buy to display it, as if it is mint in box, or to use it as a playset!

 

Star Wars

  • Star Wars BB-8 2-in-1 Mega Play Set MSRP: $199.99

A BB-8 that hides within a playset compatible with the Force Link wearable technology, and gimmick for the basic toys. Now, whether it is as BB-8, or the actual playset one can use the Force Link technology to interact with its lights, sounds, and phrases. In playset mode BB-8 features multiple levels, areas meant for the 3.75” figures, and three Force Link sections. There are trap doors, firing projectiles, and more hidden features. In addition, this release includes Supreme Leader Snoke, and an Elite Praetorian Guard.

 

  • Star Wars Force Link Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer & Kylo Ren MSRP: $39.99

Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer is one of the sleekest variants of the TIE Fighter to date! The TIE Silencer also features light effect, and two projectile-firing cannons. In addition, the vehicle and included figure work in tandem with the wearable Force Link gear (sold separately).

 

  • Star Wars The Black Series First Order Stormtrooper with Gear MSRP: $34.99

The Amazon Exclusive Star Wars The Black Series First Order Stormtrooper is special variant due to featuring several accessories from gear to weapons; these accessories are either repacked from other releases, or exclusive to the set. In addition, its vast number of accessories the figure also features a premium packaging for collectors.

  • Star Wars Force Link Starter Set MSRP: $29.99

The Force Link series is an all-new interactive playing device that kids can use to active when playing with their figures, or vehicles. The Force Link technology when activated correctly will emit lights, sounds, or phrases from the films. The starter set also includes a compatible 3.75” Kylo Ren figure. Furthermore, currently there is over 30 products with Force Link technology!

 

  • Star Wars The Black Series 6 Inch Figures MSRP: $19.99

The Black Series is an ever-popular line of figures with various waves and assortments. Fan favorites for this year include Grand Admiral Thrawn, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, and the Elite Praetorian Guards. Also, available this holiday season is the fan-voted, Jaina Solo, who is from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Fun fact, newer fans originally believed The Black Series Jaina Solo figure was a possible spoiler towards Episode VIII when the item began to appear at retailers and online!
