What’s going on Heroes? We have some movie news coming from Variety. They’re reporting that Joss Whedon is nearing a deal with Warner Bros to direct, write, and produce a Batgirl standalone film for the DC Extended Universe. Outside of that information, there’s not much else to go off of right now. I would love nothing more than a Batgirl of Burnside standalone film. I mean Batgirl is one of the few characters from DC Comics who’s stories are lighthearted and should be more of an all ages sort of film.
I don’t want to deny that Batgirl can be serious but looking at the fanbase for Batgirl, they love her when she’s at her best. Which is being a breath of fresh air compared to Batman whose stories are tied down in “tragedy” sort to speak. I do wish we would have gotten a female director to work on this project similar to how Wonder Woman has one. Then again with DC Extended Universe track record of directors coming and going. Its possible that could happen or at the very least a female writer.
