Earlier today, Deadline reported that Kate Mulgrew will be reprising her role as Captain Janeway on Nickelodeon’s Star Trek: Prodigy. Longtime Star Trek fans will recognize Kate Mulgrew portrayed the iconic role of Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager, which aired in January 1995 through May 2001. The news was first confirmed at the end of the Star Trek virtual New York Comic Con 2020 panel. According to Deadline, more cast members will be announced within the next couple of months.
Kate had this to say about her inclusion on the project.
Kate Mulgrew beamed, “I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”
“Star Trek: Prodigy,” is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2021.
