Lupin III 5th Anime Series Staff & Additional Information

Yesterday, the official website and Twitter for the fifth Lupin III anime series launched. With the launch it revealed the series’ staff, the setting, and announced it will premiere in April. Yuichiro Yano is set to return from the fourth series as director of Lupin III: Part 5. In addition, Lupin III series artist, Hisao Yokobori will return as character designer. Whereas, Ichiro Okouchi of Code Geass fame joins the staff to provide series composition.

 

The series will take place in modern France, where Lupin III visits the home of his grandfather and namesake, Arsene Lupin. The series will continue to have Lupin riding in classic cars, and traditional guns, however will adapt to using modern day technology. Now as stated earlier, Lupin III: Part 5 will premiere in April on NTV, as well as stream on select streaming services like Hulu. The Friday Road Show! television broadcast of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro will feature a first look at Part 5 on Friday.

Monkey Punch’s Lupin III manga on the titular their was adapted into four previous television anime series, several theatrical anime films, and various annual specials. In addition, the series’ female lead, Fujiko acquire her own spin-off, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine; which also received a live-action adaptation. Lupin III: Part IV, the first series in 30 years, premiered in Japan in Fall 2015, after its premiere in Italy that Summer. Lupin III: Part IV would then be added to Crunchyroll’s services in January 2016, and the following year its English dub was broadcast on Toonami.
