Today is July 10th, and that means it is none other than Ultraman Day yet again! Now, events to celebrate the franchise’s 55th anniversary are underway in both Japan and North America. On the American front we have the TokuShoutsu stream currently on-going, and later tonight is Tsuburaya Productions’ Ultraman Connection show. However, during the TokuShoutsu stream, Mill Creek Entertainment, the North American distributor, announced its final home video releases for 2021.
These release are none other than sets for the TDG series, which consists of Ultraman Tiga, Dyna and Gaia! So, this mean the entire Heisei trilogy is finally coming to North America but in DVD format. The reason behind these sets using DVD is due to the shows being filmed on video rather than film. The conversion to high definition and blu-ray could feature abnormalities with its presentation to television and streaming. However, other legal issues could be preventing the three shows’ distribution on blu-ray in North American. Nevertheless, below is solicitation from Mill Creek Entertainment which is provided by Scifi Japan:

Minneapolis, MN (July 10, 2021) Mill Creek Entertainment is pleased to announce the North American DVD* release of ULTRAMAN TIGA, ULTRAMAN DYNA, and ULTRAMAN GAIA. This collection of 3 Ultraman series will feature Japanese audio with English subtitles, an exclusive collectible spine mural and episode guides. The first in the series, ULTRAMAN TIGA, is set to arrive on October 5, 2021.
This exciting debut comes off the back of Mill Creek Entertainment’s license of the available Ultraman back-catalogue via international distribution company Indigo Entertainment, from the revolutionary team at Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd.
The ULTRAMAN TIGA (ウルトラマンティガ, Urutoraman Tiga) series includes 52 episodes along with the special ULTRAMAN TIGA SIDE STORY: REVIVAL OF THE ANCIENT GIANT (ウルトラマンティガ外伝古代に蘇る巨人 Urutoraman Tiga Gaiden Kodai Ni Yomigaeru Kyojin, 2001). Premiering in 1996, Ultraman Tiga was the first new Ultraman Japanese television series in fifteen years. Tiga was also the first transforming Ultraman, with three body types each with their own unique abilities. The story begins early in the 21st century as the Global Unlimited Task Squad (GUTS) deciphers an ancient prophecy regarding the return of two horrifying monsters the menaced the world thirty million years ago. As predicted, the two beasts reappear, demolishing everything in their path. As GUTS battle the monsters in the Land of Tiga, they discover a Pyramid of Light containing statues of three gigantic Ultra Warriors. Daigo, the GUTS Team’s most daring young fighter, becomes joined with one of the Ancient Ultra Warriors. The mighty Ultraman Tiga is reborn! Now when danger strikes, Daigo holds aloft the Sparklence and transforms into Ultraman Tiga!
The exciting debut of ULTRAMAN DYNA (ウルトラマンダイナ, Urutoraman Daina, 1997-98) has 51 episodes from season one plus the movie ULTRAMAN TIGA & ULTRAMAN DYNA: WARRIORS OF THE STAR OF LIGHT (ウルトラマンティガ＆ウルトラマンダイナ 光の星の戦士たち, Urutoraman Tiga & Urutoraman Daina: Hikari no Hoshi no Senshi-tachi, 1998) and the special ULTRAMAN DYNA: RETURN OF HANEJIRO (ウルトラマンダイナ 帰ってきたハネジロー, Urutoraman Daina Kaettekita Hanejirō, 2001). Seven years after the events of Ultraman Tiga, humanity has embarked on the Neo Frontier project of building settlements throughout the solar system. When the Martian settlement is attacked without warning by an immense insect-like monster, a colossal Tiga-like humanoid appears to battle the beast. The new warrior is Ultraman Dyna, a being of light who was born after a light merged with Agent Asuka of the Super GUTS Team to wage war against the marauding aliens and monsters who threaten humankind. Dyna and Tiga would eventually join forces in the theatrical movie, WARRIORS OF THE STAR OF LIGHT.
Included in the ULTRAMAN GAIA (ウルトラマンガイア, Urutoraman Gaia, 1998-99) series is 51 episodes and the special releases; ULTRAMAN TIGA, ULTRAMAN DYNA & ULTRAMAN GAIA: THE BATTLE IN HYPER SPACE (ウルトラマンティガ ウルトラマンダイナ＆ウルトラマンガイア超時空の大決戦, Urutoraman Tiga, Urutoraman Daina & Urutoraman Gaia Chō Jikū no Daikessen, 1999) and ULTRAMAN GAIA: GAIA ONCE AGAIN (ウルトラマンガイア ガイアよ再び, Urutoraman Gaia: Gaia yo Futatabi, 2001).The show offered a novel twist on the long-running Ultraman Series with a storyline focusing on the conflict between two Ultraman with differing philosophies about protecting mankind and the Earth. When a wormhole forms just outside the planet’s atmosphere and monstrous creatures descend upon the world’s cities, a global defense organization named GUARD is established to counter the attacks. Young Gamu Takayama discovers the power to transform himself into the gigantic superhero Ultraman Gaia, and joins X.I.G., GUARD’s front-line defense team. But then another youth, Hiroya Fujimiya, appears with the ability to become Ultraman Agul, another giant warrior with his own agenda. Is this new colossus friend or foe?
