Variety has reported that a live-action Pokémon series is in development for Netflix. While not much information about the project have not been revealed at this time, it has been reported that Joe Henderson will be working as the executive producer and writer on the project. This is not the first time the franchise has received a live-action adaptation of the Pokémon video game spin-off Detective Pikachu by Legendary Pictures in 2019.
The idea of a live-action Pokémon series is not a terrible idea as long as it is done well. Seeing as Detective Pikachu turned out to be a decent film adaption there is something to compare to and hopefully the series will turn out just as good. That being said it is easier to develop a single film adaptation versus an ongoing series so it is hard to tell exactly how well this will go.
