Today, it was announced that IDW Publishing is publishing a new Ghostbusters series. The series is titled “Ghostbusters: Answer the Call”, a five-issue series that will expand the world of the new team consisting of Abby Yates, Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, and Patty Tolan. In other words, the 2016 Ghostbuster film characters are getting their own comic and I’m excited.
The series will have writer Kelly Thompson and artist Corin Howell being the creative team behind this series. To quote what we know about the upcoming October title. Writer Kelly Thompson had this to say.
““These ladies are magic together, and I love tapping into their crazy creativity, science-y brains and kind hearts,” Thompson said. “But let’s be real, I’m mostly here for as many jokes as possible, and with these ladies, the jokes come fast and furious. Plus, who doesn’t want to write Kevin? It’s a dream come true!”
From the sounds of things, you can color me excited. I know the 2016 film received some mix reviews to say the least but I’m ready to see this team in the comics medium. With Thompson and Howell being the creative team, I can assure you that fans of that film and older fans will love it. As always, my opinion isn’t the end all be all.
