Today, Tsuburaya Productions held the official press conference for the upcoming SSSS.Gridman anime. The event mostly focused on new visuals, and the additional of cast members. However, following the event new products began to be teased, or officially announced. One of these newly revealed items is the Super Mini-Pla Denkou Choujin Gridman set! Now, people might question why is Gridman in the Super Mini-Pla line? The answer is astounding, because this set features the vehicles that form God Zenon, and allow Gridman to become Thunder Gridman. Also, this Super Mini-Pla set will permit the figures to have interchangeable hands, as well as include the Lightning Thunderbolt Sword. The Lightning Thunderbolt Sword is a multiple piece weapon that can also serve as an Axe, or separate into the Plasma Blade and Barrier Shield.
For those who have not seen Denkou Choujin Gridman, God Zenon consisted of the mecha vehicles: Thunder Jet, Twin Driller, and God Tank. In the series, these vehicles were designed by Naoto’s friend Ippei, but in reality were design by Tsuburaya and Takara. God Zenon’s actual design is also a homage to Takara/ Hasbro’s character Optimus Prime. The various vehicles made their debut in the series before episode 10. Whereas, God Zenon made its debut in episode 12, and immediately following in episode 13 it combined with Gridman to form Thunder Gridman.
Super Mini-Pla Denkou Choujin Gridman is a retail release scheduled for November. However, this item can also be purchased through Premium Bandai. The price of this incredible set is 6480 yen, which is roughly $65 USD before shipping and handling. Yet, this item may be distributed to North America via Bluefin Tamashii since the original series is streaming on demand via TokuHD, and Funimation Entertainment plans to stream/ dub SSSS.Gridman in Fall.
