Variety has recently reported that a spin-off series based on the “Penguin” is in early development for HBO Max. According to the reports the series will focus on the “Penguin” that will be making an appearance in the upcoming The Batman film who will be played by Collin Farrell. Farrell has apparently been contacted to reprise his role, however currently no full deal is place at this time. Also according to the reports, Laruen LeFranc has been hired to work as the script writer on the project.
If the project gets greenlit, the series will focus on “The Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham criminal underworld.” Additionally, Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark would return to executive produce the project. Currently no other staff members have been confirmed at this time. 6th & Idaho and Dylan Clark Productions have also been contacted to develop the project alongside Warner Bros. Television. No other details are confirmed at this time of writing so stay tuned for updates.
