Pokémon Crystal VC Announcement Trailer Streamed

Nintendo has updated their official Youtube channel with an announcement trailer for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console release of Pokémon Crystal.  For those who aren’t aware, Pokémon Crystal was the third game release in the second generation for the Pokémon franchise.  Pokémon Crystal debuted on the Gameboy Color in Japan in 2000 and in the west in 2001.  The game was roughly the same as Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, however the game did feature some new content.

One of the biggest new features that was introduced in Pokémon Crystal is the ability to choose a male or female avatar.  This was a groundbreaking feature in the franchise, which was later used in future titles in the series.  Pokémon Crystal also furthered the story of the Legendary trio and introduced the character Eusine who also made an appearance in the anime.  Players will also be able to get the mystical Celebi after the main game is completed.

Pokémon Crystal will also utilize the wireless trading system introduced in the Virtual Console releases of Pokémon Red & Blue.  The game will be compatible with the Pokémon Bank that will allow players to transfer their Pokémon into modern titles. Pokémon Crystal will launch on the Nintendo 3DS VC on January 26th, 2018.
