Square Enix NA has posted an Romancing SaGa 2 announcement trailer on their official Youtube channel.
Romancing SaGa™ 2 is coming to the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system, Nintendo Switch™, STEAM®, Xbox One and Windows 10 on December 15, 2017.
Sit upon the throne of the Varennes Empire and control several generations of rulers in a valiant battle against the Seven Heroes. A dynamic freeform scenario system – a hallmark of the million-selling SaGa RPG series – enables you to take command of a variety of protagonists along the line of imperial succession and experience the history of a nation as it grows and changes based on your actions.
• Experience a compelling narrative that served as the cornerstone of the title’s success on its initial release back in 1993.
• Use weapons and martial arts in heated battles to learn and master new combat techniques.
• Take advantage of each character attributes, learn new battle formations, concoct spells and temper weapons to grow the Varennes Empire.
For those who are unaware, Romancing SaGa 2 is the fifth title in the long running SaGa game series. The SaGa series made its debut as Makai Toushi Sa·Ga (Warrior in the Tower of the Spirit World ~ Sa·Ga) for the original Gameboy system in Japan in 1989. The game was released later in North America as The Final Fantasy Legend in 1990.
Romancing SaGa 2 was released for the Super Famicon in 1993 and was later ported to various systems. The game didn’t make its debut outside of Japan until it was finally released in North America for Android and iOS in 2016.
The latest release of the game will feature updated graphics and new content such as new classes and scenarios. Seeing as this will mark the first release on home consoles outside of Japan it should be great way for players to experience this RPG classic. Romancing SaGa 2 will be released for the Playstation 4, PSVita, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam on December 15.
