September 2018 Nintendo Direct Streamed

Nintendo has recently streamed a new Nintendo Direct, which features a look at some of the upcoming 2018 and 2019 game releases.

Some of the highlights of the direct can be viewed in the notes below.

First, the direct revealed Luigi’s Mansion 3. The trailer featured a look at some of the gameplay, however not much is known about this title at this time. The game will be launching for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Next, the direct took a look at some upcoming games for the Nintendo 3DS. The first title revealed is a new version of Kirby’s Epic Yarn titled, “Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn,” which will be released in 2019. In this version of the game players will be able to play as Metaknight and King Dedede, which wasn’t possible in the original version.  Continuing on, the direct took another look at Luigi’s Mansion. Players will now be able to play alongside a friend who own a copy of the game or will be able to help each other against bosses via download play. Luigi’s Mansion will be released for the Nintendo 3DS on October 12. The last Nintendo 3DS title featured was Yo-Kai Watch Blasters. The game will be receiving an update on September 27.

Thirdly, the direct took a look at a new update for Splatoon 2. The trailer featured a look at some of the new outfits and weapons that will be released in the upcoming update. The Version 4 update for Splatoon 2 will be released at an unknown date.

Fourthly, the direct featured another look at Mega Man 11. Players will be able to use Amiibo to obtain extra Energy Tanks. Mega Man 11 will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 2.

Fifthly, the direct featured a look at an upcoming update for Mario Tennis Aces. The game will be introducing new characters, which include: Birdo, Shy Guy, Koopa Paratroopa, and Petey Piranha. The update will also include a new co-op challenge mission. The Version 2 update will launch on September 19 and further updates to the game will continue until June 2019.

Sixth, it has been revealed that a special Capcom beat up collection will be released for the Nintendo Switch. The collection will include several classic game titles as well as two titles, which will be released for the first time on console. Some of the titles included will allow up to four players and all titles included in the collection will feature online play.

The games included in the collection includes:

  • Final Fight
  • Knights of Dragons
  • Captain Commando
  • Knights of the Round
  • Warriors of Fate
  • Armored Warriors (First Time Console Release)
  • Battle Circuit (First Time Console Release)

The collection of games will be titled, “Capcom Beat’ Em Up Bundle,” and will be released on September 18. Later today players will be able to pre-purchase the game.

Seventh, it has been revealed that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be released for the Nintendo Switch. The game will feature Nabitt (who was included in New Super Luigi U), and Toadette, who will be playable for the first time. By getting a super crown, Toadette will be able to become Peachette. New Super Luigi U will also be included with the game. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be released for the Nintendo Switch on January 11, 2019.

Eighth, it was announced that Katamari Demacy will be receiving an HD remaster titled, “Katamari Demacy Reroll.” The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch this Winter.

Ninth, the direct took a look at the Nintendo Online features. For those who are not aware, players will soon have to pay for the online service starting on September 18. Some features include newly added co-op versions of original Nintendo Entertainment System titles and cloud saves. More details including pricing details can be seen on Nintendo’s official website.

Tenth, Nintendo revealed they will be releasing new special NES controllers, which will work like Joycons. While the controllers themselves are pretty much just slightly smaller NES controllers, they will feature wireless capabilities and can be charged via the console like Joycons. The controllers will be released as a two pack priced at $59.99.

Eleventh, the direct took another look at Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! Players will be able to change their partner Pokémon’s hairstyles and use special abilities outside of battles. Nintendo will be releasing special Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! Nintendo Switch bundles as well. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! will be released on November 16.

Twelfth, the direct featured another look at the Diablo III: Eternal Edition. The game will feature local co-op and some of the Nintendo exclusive features such as the Ganondorf armor. Diablo III: Eternal Edition will be released for the Nintendo Switch on November 2.

Thirteenth, the direct took another look at Super Mario Party, which will feature over 80 brand new minigames. Super Mario Party will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 5. 

Fourteenth, the direct revealed a new titled that will be developed by Game Freak titled, “Town.” Not much is known about this title outside of the player protecting a village from monsters and that the game will take place fully in the village. The game will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. 

Fifteenth, the direct featured another look at Daemon X Machina. Players will take control of mecha suits called Arsenals and will be able to gain more parts and weapons by fighting other mecha. Players will also be able to fight outside of the Arsenals and explore the maps on foot. Daemon X Machina will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. 

Sixteenth, Nintendo revealed details for the upcoming game based on Yoshi. The game will be titled, “Yoshi’s Crafted World,” and will allow players to play with a friend. One of the unique features in this game is that players will able to play entire stages backwards so expect some pretty wild experiences while playing this game. Yoshi’s Crafted World will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. 

Seventh, the direct took another look at Starlink: Battle for Atlas, which featured a look at the main team of Star Fox and revealed that Wolf o’Donell, aka Star Wolf, will also be in the game. Starlink: Battle for Atlas will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 16. 

Eighteen, the direct took a look at Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition. This version of the game will feature online multiplayer and will also feature some new areas in dungeons. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. 

Nineteenth, the direct revealed some more Final Fantasy content will be released for the Nintendo Switch. First it has been revealed at World of Final Fantasy Maxima and Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Everybody will be launching for the Nintendo Switch.  Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Everybody will be released this Winter andWorld of Final Fantasy Maxima will be released in 2019.

Twentieth, it has been revealed that the Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X Remastered, Final Fantasy X-2 Remastered, and Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age will be released for the Nintendo Switch. Currently no release date for these titles have been confirmed at this time, however expect them to release sometime in 2019.

Last, but certainly not least the direct featured a look at some updates for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. First it has been revealed that a special Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bundle will be releasing on November 2. The bundle will include a special Nintendo Switch Dock/ Joycons that feature special artwork as well as a digital copy of the game. It has also been revealed that Isabelle will be joining the game as a “new fighter,” which is interesting to see that she is not an echo fighter to Villager.  

And finally, it has been revealed that a new Animal Crossing game is in the works, however no other details are confirmed at this time. The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.
