We have some wonderful casting news that was announced today. Idris Elba will be voicing Knuckles in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film. I have to say I’m excited because everyone knows that deep down Knuckles is a black man. So to know that Idris Elba will be voicing the Echidna himself. I couldn’t be happier, here’s hoping we get a Pumpkin Hill rap by Knuckles himself in this upcoming film.
That being said, here’s what we know about who will be returning for the sequel. Ben Schwartz will be voicing our blue hedgehog himself. Returning live-action actors James Marsden and Tika Sumpter are both coming back as Tom and Tika. Give the post credit scene for the first film, we can assume Miles “Tails” Prower will be making an appearance but at this time we’re unsure who will be voicing Sonic’s sidekick. Finally, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to run into theaters April 8th, 2022.
