Eh, I don’t a Spider-Verse sequel already is that big of a surprise. It’s gotta be tracking well, and… y’know, it’s not like Sony Animation has many bright spots outside of Hotel Transylvania. Spider-Man is definitely being groomed to be another tentpole animated franchise for ’em, and they need it 🙂

The all-female thing is also not-surprising since Amy Pascal’s still around. From that female Ghostbusters reboot to now, she’s just had a weird “Hollywood boner” for the idea of an all-female (blank), and now her sights are set on Spider-Man. They spent years not developing the Black Cat movie. Then not developing the Black Cat/Silver Sable movie they kept threatening. Now it’s time for the animation division to not make an all female movie. Ugh.

I dunno, if Spider-Gwen turns out to be a fan-favorite or steal the movie in Spider-Verse, I’m sure they’ll sense enough momentum there to actually force this thing to happen, but it’s always a bad idea to just do something to get “Diversity Points” from a certain sector of Twitter instead of focusing on doing something because, y’know, you actually have a good idea for it. And judging by the lack of momentum the Black Cat movie and Silver & Black ever got, they 100% don’t have a good idea for the “Ladies of Spider-Man”, so…. y’know, It seems like an obvious bad idea.
