Star Trek: Prodigy to Premiere on Paramount Plus

Variety has recently revealed a first look at the upcoming Star Trek: Prodigy animated series. The series was first announced in 2019 and later it was revealed that Kate Mulgrew would reprise her role as Captain Janeway. While the series was intended for Nickelodeon, the series will now be released on Paramount Plus later this year. The news was first unveiled during a Investors Day presentation presented by ViamconCBS. The first season of the series will consist of 10 episodes and once it concludes on the service the series will air on Nickelodeon. The series will focus on a group of alien kids who find and command an abandoned Starfleet vessel. No other details are confirmed at this time, so stay tuned for updates.

Looking at the promotional image for the series I have to say I did not expect the series to look like this at all. I am intrigued to see how this series turns out especially since there has not been an kid targeted animated series in the Star Trek universe since the original animated series. Personally I think the animation looks alright, but I do need to see it in action to have more clear thoughts.
