Stargirl Renewed for Season 2 on The CW

Yes folks you’ve read that title correctly. Stargirl has been renewed for another season but only on The CW. Here’s a bit of information about the renewal via The Hollywood Reporter.

“The CW has picked up a second season of DC Comics series Stargirl — and the broadcast network will become the exclusive in-season home for the show.

The renewal comes midway through its first season, which runs on both streaming platform DC Universe and, a day later, on The CW. Season two will debut exclusively on The CW and stream the next day on the network’s free, ad-supported platform, further dwindling DC Universe’s roster of original shows. Stargirl will still have an SVOD home, on HBO Max, after the season wraps.

It seems like slowly but surely the DC Universe will have no more original series. I mean Doom Patrol seems to have found a new home on HBO Max. Harley Quinn animated series is set to start appearing on the HBO Max app down the line. So the DC Universe app is stuck with Titans and Young Justice. Which if I’m being honest, I’m not really going to invest in an app for only two original shows. I signed up for DC Universe because of the original shows being on the app. If you’re taking the biggest reason I signed up away, I probably will drop my membership all together.

That said, I couldn’t be happier for Stargirl. The adventures of Courtney Whitmore have been fantastic. I’m happy we will get more out of this show. I do worry that budget might go down with it no longer being an exclusive show on DC Universe but we will have to see. I know on The CW it’s been getting great ratings so hopefully that will factor into the budget for next season whenever that is set to come out. Overall, looking for to the adventures of Stargirl and the JSA as we finish out the first season.
