Streets of Rage 4 DLC “Mr. X Nightmare” Announced

Yesterday, Dotemu the publisher of Streets of Rage 4, announced an all-new and upcoming DLC expansion. Apparently this DLC expansion is adding a lot of new content to the game including new game modes. The update does not have a release date yet, and not everything has been confirmed. However, there was plenty of information that did get extrapolated on by Dotemu.

The DLC is titled, “Mr. X Nightmare,” and it will add three new playable characters that will be revealed over time. The first reveal is for Estel Aguirre who previously appeared in the game as a boss character that players had to fight. Estel is a police officer in the Wood Oak Police Department, the city where the series is set in. Whereas, the other two characters have only been shown as silhouettes. I can hazard a solid guess as to who they are, but officially the only character revealed is Estel Aguirre. Below is the official reveal trailer for Streets of Rage 4 – Mr. X Nightmare DLC:

Also, the DLC is going to add a new gameplay mode, the survival mode, where the game will have players in arenas battling to see how long they can last against waves of enemies. In addition, the update will feature new weapons, most notable is what seems to be a dead swordfish that players can pick up as a weapon. This swordfish weapon is even featured in the promotional art for the DLC with the character, Axel Stone holding one in his hand.

Furthermore, they announced there is going to be a free update that will add content to the game. The new content will include Training Mode, Tutorial Mode, Mania+, and character color options. This update is for players who have not bought the DLC to have at least something to enjoy. Then on top of all that has been announced, composer Tee Lopes will be contributing new music for the game. For those unaware, Mr. Lopes was also the composer for officially licensed Sonic fan game, Sonic Mania; a soundtrack most fans seem to enjoy, so the tracks Mr. Lopes produces will most likely receive a warm welcome.

The update will be released sometime later this year, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Nevertheless, for more details and updates on the Streets of Rage 4 – Mr. X Nightmare DLC please stay tuned to Hero-Club.
