Variety has reported that a live-action film based on the DC Comics character Black Canary has been greenlit for HBO Max. The film will be written by Misha Green. The film will also see the return of Sue Kroll under her production company, Kroll & Co. Entertainment. Jurnee Smollet is set to reprise her role as Black Canary in the film, however no other cast members have been revealed. Warner Brothers has recently released a new trailer for Birds of Prey. The latest trailer features a closer look at the team and another look at the setting of the film. Some highlights include a look at the Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) in costume and Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor) putting on the mask. Variety has reported that Ewan McGregor is in talks to portray Black Mask in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film, “Birds of Prey.” For those are not aware, the film will focus on the Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Windstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) as they team-up to fight against Black Mask. Variety has reported that Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Windstead will be joining the cast of Birds of Prey. For those who are not aware, the film is a live-action adaptation of the Birds of Prey comic series and will be produced by Margot Robbie. Margot Robbie portrayed Harley Quinn in the 2016 Suicide Squad film and will reprise her role in Birds of Prey.
