Several news outlets have reported that the live-action film adaptation for the Detective Pikachu spin-off video game is moving to Warner Brothers for distribution outside of Japan and China. Illumination Entertainment to Produce Super Mario Film

Last November it was revealed that Illumination Entertainment was in talks to produce a film based on the Super Mario franchise.  Today Nintendo announced that they have partnered up with the company and the producers for the film will be Chris Meledandri, founder of Illumination Entertainment, and Shigeru Miyamato.   The film will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures and will be co-funding by the company and Nintendo.
