The official Star Wars website has updated with an announcement that Taika Waititi will be directing and co-writing a theatrical Star Wars film. Additionally, Krysty Wilson-Cairns will be joining him on the project as a screenplay writer for the film as well. For those who are not aware, this is not the first Star Wars project Taika has worked as as he recently voiced IG-11 on The Mandalorian. The website also announced that Leslye Headland will be working as the executive producer and showrunner on a separate Star Wars project for Disney+. These projects will join the currently running Star Wars productions including a Disney+ series based on Obi-Wan Kenobi and a spin-off series based on Cassian Andor/ K-2SO. No other details about the projects are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates.
