Deadline has reported that a third Sonic the Hedgehog film is currently in the works. The news was first unveiled during the Viacom Investor Event, which was held earlier today. While not much is known about the film at this time it has also been announced that a live-action series is also in the works with Idris Elba returning to reprise his role as Knuckles in the series. The series is slated to release in 2023. No other details are confirmed about either project are confirmed at this time so stay tuned for updates. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will premiere in theaters on April 8, 2022.
I am excited to hear that more Sonic the Hedgehog projects are in development. The first film was a pretty wild ride and it is still awesome that Idris Elba will be hanging around in the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
