Tsuburaya Productions Officially Announces Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga Series

Today, Tsuburaya Productions officially unveiled the next installment in the Ultra Series, Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga. The upcoming series is a homage to the 90s classic installment Ultraman Tiga, which was the first part of the Heisei Trilogy. However, Tsuburaya Productions refers to the trilogy simply as the TDG series for Ultraman Tiga, Dyna, and Gaia.

Now, as the subtitle New Generation Tiga indicates, Ultraman Trigger is a reimagination of Ultraman Tiga for the modern era. The series will attempt to emulate various story elements from Tiga like the Ancient Giant of Light, and the Type Change concept. The overall intention behind this production choice is to celebrate the TDG series’ 25th broadcast anniversary. Below is the series’ teaser trailer and story premise provided by Tsuburaya Productions/ Ultraman Galaxy:

STORY:

30 million years ago, the world was engulfed in terrifying darkness.
But that darkness was sealed deep in space by the Giant of Light.
His power spent, the Giant of Light sleeps in the red star,
and is forgotten to time…

The Terrestrial Peaceable Union hurries to gather the expert team GUTS-Select, while Kengo Manaka lives peacefully on now-colonized Mars as a botanist.
However, his peaceful life suddenly comes to an end one fateful day.
The darkness that the ancient civilization sealed away breathes once more!
As a monster bears down on the Martian settlement, Kengo’s fate leads him to a chance encounter.

A chance encounter with none-other than the sleeping Giant of Light.
How will Kengo’s meeting with the Giant of Light influence his destiny and the destiny of Earth?
The Giant of Light is reborn after an eternity. His name: Ultraman Trigger!

Along with the series’ teaser trailer and premise, Tsuburaya Productions also provided information on our protagonist and titular Ultraman. The series will be lead by entertainer Raiga Terasaka, known for being in the musical groups “Boys and Men,” and “Matsuri nine.” In the series, Raiga will portray Ultraman Trigger’s human host Kengo Manaka, who is 21-year old recruit in GUTS-Select. Kengo previously was a botanist for the Mars before having his faithful encounter with the Giant of Light. Now, to transform into Ultraman Trigger, Kengo will requiring using the GUTS Sparklence and GUTS Hyper Keys. It is a device engineered from relics used by the ‘ancient civilization,’ and features two modes: the Hyper Mode and the Sparklence Mode.

Then as for Ultraman Trigger, he is a revived Giant of Light from 1000 years ago. Like Ultraman Tiga, Trigger features the Type Change ability that features three forms: Multi Type, Power Type and Sky Type. For those unaware, the Multi Type is the standard base form for this type of Ultraman. Whereas, the Power Type is for strong-styled fighting and Sky Type is mostly for agility or aerial combat. However, unlike Ultraman Tiga, Trigger possesses the ancient weapon referred to as the Circle Arms; it is a bladed weapon that converts to match Trigger’s Type Change. The Circle Arms’ names for each form are called: the Multi Sword, the Power Claw, and Sky Arrow.

Also, Tsuburaya Productions confirmed the series director will be none other than Koichi Sakamoto. Whereas, Ultraman Trigger is scheduled to premiere on Ultraman Day, July 10th at 9:00 am JST. The series will be broadcast on TXN in Japan, and most likely be simulcast internationally on YouTube like Ultraman Z. Currently, no other details available on the series, but stay tuned to Hero-Club for future updates!
