Bakugan Franchise Relaunches with Bakugan Battle Planet

Last year it was announced that the Bakugan franchise would be rebooted, however outside of the initial announcement not much information regarding the project was revealed that the time. Recently it has been revealed that Spin Master will be collaborating with TMS Entertainment and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana subsidiary will be working on the reboot for the franchise. The new series will be titled, “Bakugan Battle Planet,” and will premiere this December on Cartoon Network in North America and on Teletoon in Canada. The series will also air on Cartoon Network in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America in 2019. The series will also launch in both Australia and New Zealand, however no premiere dates are confirmed at this time.

The animated series follows the adventures of Dan and his best friends, the first kids on Earth to bond with the mysterious alien creatures known as the Bakugan. With storylines themed around friendship, battling and competition combined with a new integrated toy line, “BAKUGAN Battle Planet” is anticipated to be one of the biggest and most dynamic franchises yet.

Bakugan Battle Planet will also receive “additional short form content” online. Spin Master also recently opened a teaser website stating more details will be revealed on December 1. 

The toyline will be handled by Takara Tomy in Japan and TMS Entertaiment will handle distribution of the toys as well as the licensing program. The toyline will launch in North America and “other select markets” within the first quarter of 2019 and the full global release of the toyline is set for the second quarter of the year.
