Cosplay Cafe 37: Misdreavus M

What’s going on Cosplay Cafe fam? I hope you had a great New Year and your 2018 has been good so far. Anyway, it’s Ben and were back with season two of Cosplay Cafe. What does this mean for you? We got some new people coming though along with some old people making their return. So were kicking season two off with Misdreavus M. Not only does she cosplay but she does these amazing tattoos which I will post images down below. So enough of me talking, enjoy getting to know Misdreavus M.

1. What were you like growing up? What were some of the things you were into as a child/teenager?

I was a very strange child that made adults uneasy.I had a Wednesday Adams personality and an inoperable tumor on my neck the size of a grape fruit. So,I was alone a lot growing up.I dealt with it by watching a ton of anime and playing a ton of video games, with my pets, otherwise alone.

2. Did those things influence who you are today?

I don’t think there’s any way it couldn’t have.Especially considering I still do a lot of things I did back then.Like watching too much anime, playing too many video games, with my pets otherwise alone.Except now I have exactly three online friends.

3. What got you to cosplay characters from League of Legends? Looking at some of the characters you’ve done from that series. The amount of detail you put into them is amazing.

Hooooonestly,I just really enjoy League of Legends. It’s been the one game that’s held my attention for years and really helps me with relaxing, anxiety, that stuff.Which is astonishing since I exclusively play solo/duo ranked. Also seriously thank you! That means a lot.

4. What has been your biggest triumph in cosplay so far?

Probably getting over having to see my own face and having my picture taken.I don’t really like looking at myself or getting my photo taken. But I really like becoming different characters,so I learned to get past that part. But it’s never not weird.

5. So what is it like working with David Love Photography? Looking at the work you two do together, I have to say it seems like you guys work well together.

It’s great! He’s seriously such a good guy. Every time we’ve done shoots has been some of the most fun I’ve had. So much respect for him.I haven’t seen him in awhile, but he never ceases to drop my jaw with the work he puts out.

6. Off topic question, favorite food?

Any food is my favorite food if it goes well with cheese.

7. Recently, you’ve started a Patreon. What can people expect to find on there instead of your other social media platforms?

The reason I created a Patreon is to teach what I know to anyone who wants to learn–Which is why it’s so cheap. If I didn’t have to replace all the materials I use to teach,it’d be free. The heart of my Patreon is like using it as an online apprenticeship for new tattooists. So video tutorials on techniques, the industry, the culture, products, break downs, anything that someone would learn in an apprenticeship. As well as having some tutorials and speed paints out for any artists wanting to learn new things. I also do tutorials on how to make big cosplay affordably.Which is pretty tricky to do, but all of the costumes you see me in never cost more than 80 dollars and people need to know how I do that cause it’s life saving.I have a lot of other stuff going on there, too. But that’s some of the stuff that won’t be put publicly.

8. Second off topic, what is one thing you’re looking forward to this year?

The last six months of my 2017 gave me a whole new path for where my life is going.I don’t have any specific thing to look forward to,but I’m looking forward to everyday in 2018 and every year after that.

9. For those that don’t know Misdreavus is a tattoo artist. What got you into being a tattoo artist?

This requires me to go into my origin story.I was given a free apprenticeship on the condition I bought an entire set up.I was 15 at the time of this,so it required every bit of savings I had.And what happened when I did made me very bitter for a long time. The person apprenticing me disappeared after the first day of my apprenticeship. They told me that my art would never make good tattoos and that their five year old would be a better tattooist than I’d ever be.It was devastating and it made me choose between finishing high school, or quitting to teach myself the art so the money I dropped wouldn’t just be gone forever.I did the latter. What got me into it was a combination of not having another option anymore and spite for being told I’d amount to nothing. As the years have gone by,I’ve let a lot of that go.Now I do it because I love it and I couldn’t see myself as anything else.

10. Do you have any cosplays you’re currently working on?

My goal, especially with Patreon now,is to have a new costume every month and after a little while have two or three a month. So I’m planning ahead and have started working on five costumes gradually.

11. What conventions can people find you at this year?

I’m not sure yet,but I’d like to go to Dragon-con again this year and Anime Weekend Atlanta. Megacon and maybe a Supercon, too. If I’m not working.

12. Final question, anything you want to say to your fans?

Thank you for continuing to follow me even though I’ve gone MIA on facebook for two months at a time on occasion. It means a lot people still follow me since a lot of people don’t like someone if they don’t post for awhile.I’m really working hard on not going MIA anymore this year!
