Cosplay Cafe 41: Queen Of Sassgard Cosplay

Happy Friday heroes, we have a new cosplay cafe for your eyes today. Season 2 continues with Queen of Sassgard Cosplay coming through. It was great being able to sit and talk to her. So I hope you enjoy the conversation we had. Anyway, catch you at the bottom.

1. What were you like growing up? What were some of the things you were into as a child/teenager?

I was a big ol’ softy. I am tall and that made everyone want to put me in sports but I loved reading and painting as a kid. I still do. My art has just become more wearable instead.

2. Did those things influence who you are today?

It looks like I answered your question in the previous one haha. I definitely think it has influenced who I am today.

3. How was fanime for you this year?

Fanime was great! It was my first time not working the convention, so it felt very chill. I enjoyed it a lot. I love the venue too.

4.What is one thing cosplay has taught you? Whether it’s a new skill or about yourself.

It has taught me patience and perfection. I need more patience and not everything is going to be perfect and that’s okay!

5. Being a plus sized cosplayer, what challenges do you feel you face in the cosplay community?

I feel like a challenge that is common is getting passed over with photographers. They want someone more “accurate” so they pick the cosplayers who are smaller. I worked just as hard on my cosplay and I can’t just change my body like that. It’s unfair.

6. Off topic question, favorite food?

Mac and Cheese for sure! Usually homemade

7. What is one thing you love about the cosplay community?

A: I love how many wonderful people are in it. I’ve made so many friends from just dressing up with a bunch of nerds. It’s been the best experience.

8. Do you have a favorite cosplay you’ve made?

I made my Wonder Woman (minus the cape) without help, so I’m gonna say that’s my favorite one I have personally made. But my mom and I worked on Cinderella together and I LOVE that cosplay. So throw that in there too.

9. Any advice for someone getting into cosplay?

Just do it. When you feel doubt, like you’re not good enough or it doesn’t look right, or you’re afraid, just do it.That’s the hardest step for most. And most importantly, have fun. It’s cliche, I know, but with how much money you spend on the cosplay and the con, you can’t afford not to have fun!

10. What cosplays are you currently working on?

I am currently trying to redo Wonder Woman, maybe debut another princess/Disney character, and some Pokemon Gijinka’s!

11.What conventions can people find you at later this year?

I am…unsure? Stan’ Lee’s Comikaze (or LACC or whatever it is now) might be on the list, but if not, probably Blizzcon!

12. Final question, anything you want to say to your fans?

Oh gosh…I don’t really consider myself to have fans, I’d love for people who follow me to reach out and be friends with me!
