E3 2019 Nintendo Direct Streamed

Nintendo recently held their E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, which featured new details for some upcoming Nintendo Switch games.

First, the Direct revealed the second DLC fighter in the Smash Bros Ultimate Fighters Pass. The second fighter will be the “Hero” from the Dragon Quest series. While they specifically showed Luminary from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, they also revealed that several other main protagonists will also be playable as alt skins. The Dragon Quest Hero will be released this Summer. The other heroes revealed include:

  • Erdrick – Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II, Dragon Quest III
  • Solo – Dragon Quest IV
  • Hero – Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

The direct continued and showed another trailer for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition, which will launch on the Nintendo Switch on September 27.

 

Next, the direct took a look at Luigi’s Mansion 3. The trailer featured a look at several of the mechanics of the new Poltergust known as the Poltergust G-00. Some of the new mechanics include the Slam, Suction Shot, and more. The trailer also revealed that the player will be able to summon a friend known as Gooigi. Players will also be able play co-op with a friend to help them throughout the adventure. The trailer also took a look at a returning feature from Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon. In the Scarescraper Mode players will transverse through several levels of a tower with either local co-op or with players online. Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be released for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019.

 

Fourthly, the direct took a look a new game based on Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance titled, “The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance Tactics Game.” The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019.

 

Fifthly, the direct took a deeper look at the HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. The trailer took a deeper look at the game and showcased several of the bosses the player will be facing in the game. The trailer also took a look at a new feature where it seems the player will be collecting “chambers,” which can be used to create their own dungeons. Players who complete their dungeons will get rewards. The HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will launch for the Nintendo Switch on September 20, 2019.

 

The sixth thing, the direct revealed that a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3 titled, Trials of Mana.” What is special about this remake is that it is a remake of what fans called the “third” title in the main Secret of Mana series and will also be the first time the game will be released in the west. Outside of the cinematic trailer not much is known about this title expect that it will be released in 2020. Additionally, the direct revealed that the Secret of Mana Collection will be released in the west. The collection is currently live on the Nintendo Switch eShop priced at $39.99. The collection includes the following games:

  • Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden)
  • Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2)
  • Trials of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 3)

Then the direct revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will be released for the Nintendo Switch in 2019. That was followed by another cinematic trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which will launch on July 26, 2019. In addition, the direct revealed that more Resident Evil games will be released for the Nintendo Switch. Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will be released sometime in 2019. Furthermore, the direct revealed that No More Heroes III is in development and will launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

 

Following the reveals for seven through ten, the eleventh reveal was that a new game in the Contra series will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch titled, “Contra Rogue Corps.” The game will launch for Nintendo Switch on September 24, 2019. The game will feature both online multiplayer and local co-op. The direct also revealed that the Contra Anniversary Collection will be released today. Whereas, the twelfth reveal was a new trailer for Daemon X Machina. After a long wait period the release date has finally been revealed; Daemon X Machina will be released for the Nintendo Switch on September 13, 2019. Also, surprisingly enough the thirteenth reveal is for a new Panzer Dragoon, which seems to be a remake of the first game. Panzer Dragoon Remake will be released this Winter.

 

The fourteenth reveal in the direct featured a short segment on Pokémon Sword and Shield. While players will not be able to use the Pokéball Plus as a controller like in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, players can carry their Pokémon in the device. The trailer also revealed the water gym leader who is named Nessa.

 

The fifteenth and sixteenth reveals featured a new trailer for Astral Chain and a new game titled, “Empire of Sin.”  Astral Chain is scheduled to release on the Nintendo Switch on August 30, 2019. Whereas, “Empire of Sin” seems to be some kind of crime thriller styled game that is set to release on the Nintendo Switch in 2020.

 

The seventeenth item in the direct took another look at Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. The trailer featured a look at several of the characters that will be playable in the game:

  • Elsa Bloodstone
  • Ghost Rider
  • Elecktra

The trailer also revealed that an expansion pass will be released for the game, which is set to release this Fall. The expansion pass will feature content based on Marvel Knights, X-Men, and Fantastic 4.

 

The eighteenth item in the direct was another look at Cadence of Hyrule, which releases on June 13, 2019. That was followed up with the reveal of a new Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Games which will be released this November. Whereas, the twentieth reveal a close look at the next game in the Animal Crossing game series that was briefly shown during the last main Nintendo Direct. The game seems to put the player on an island doing the usual crafting, building, etc like in previous titles in the series. The new game will be titled, “Animal Crossing New Horizons and is set to release on March 20, 2020. Then the direct featured a showcase of some other upcoming titles, which include:

  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy: September 3, 2019
  • Hollow Knight Silk Song: Coming Soon
  • Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered: September 20, 2019
  • Minecraft Dungeons: Spring 2020
  • The Elder Scrolls: Blades: Fall 2019
  • My Friend Pedro: June 20, 2019
  • Doom Eternal: Coming Soon
  • The Sinking City: Fall 2019
  • Wolfenstein Young Blood: July 26, 2019
  • Dead by Daylight: September 24., 2019
  • Alien: Isolation: 2019
  • Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered: Winter 2019
  • Dragon Quest Builders 2: July 12, 2019
  • Stranger Things The Game: July 4, 2019
  • Just Dance 2020: November 5, 2019
  • Catan: June 20, 2019
  • Super Lucky’s Tale: Fall 2019
  • Dauntless: Late 2019
  • Super Mario Maker 2: June 28, 2019

 

The second-to-last reveal was another fighter that will be making his way to the Smash Brothers Ultimate Fighters Pass. The third fighter in the Fighters Pass is none other than Banjo-Kazooie from the game of the same name. Now, this is incredibly exciting since the duo have not made any new appearances since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. The duo will be released this Fall.

 

Finally, the direct revealed that a sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is being developed. No other details are confirmed about the project at this time.
