Within the mix of the NYCC 2017 news, IDW Publishing announced the the release details for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog comic series. For those who are unaware the original main Sonic the Hedgehog comics series that was published Archie Comics finished it’s run on July 19 this year. The series ran from November 22, 1992 – July 19, 2017 so it did have a long run. The new comics will be published by IDW Publishing and the first issue is set to release in April 2018, with the return of long time comic writer, Ian Flynn, as the head writer. No other details are confirmed at this time so stay tune for updates.
