Kamen Rider W Sequel; Futo Detectives Manga Confirmed!

Previously teased in a magazine scan that surfaced online was an upcoming sequel for Kamen Rider W. Toei would quickly rush to confirm that this sequel was not meant to be a video production, but a manga series titled, Kamen Rider W: Futo Detectives.

 

Kamen Rider W, was the 11th Heisei Kamen Rider series (20th in the overall franchise). It ran from September 6th, 2009 to August 29th, 2010. The series revolved around a pair of detectives, Shotaro Hidari the half-boiled heart, and Philip the “brains” of the duo. The two work together to investigate crimes occurring in the Windy City of Futo, and to transform into Kamen Rider W to fight off the criminals known as the Dopants.

 

Writing the manga will be one of the head writers of the TV show, Riku Sanjo. Sanjo’s other works head writer for tokusatsu include Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, and Kamen Rider Drive.  He is also working on another manga called, Beet the Vandel Buster. The art for the manga will be done by Masaki Sato who is credited for working on the manga, Love Theory.

 

Supervising the series will be the series’ chief producer, Hideaki Tsukada, who was also chief producer for such shows as Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, Juken Sentai Gekiranger, and Kamen Rider FourzeKatsuya Terada will return to provide creature designs for the Dopants; Terada is also credited for designing the Bugsters in the current series, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. Not much is known about the full synopsis of the manga, so stay tuned for more details.
