Pokémon Direct January 2020 Recap

Happy Thursday heroes! Today, we have some news coming from the Pokémon Direct that aired earlier today. So, let us walk through what was shown together from this twenty-minute direct.

Starting off we are getting Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX. This is a remake of the original game which came out back in 2006. In addition, the demo for this game is out as of today. So, after reading this post I recommend fans should check it out! The game is set to be released March 6th 2020. So, March is shaping up to be a great month for video games as the Final Fantasy VII remake and Animal Crossing are set to come out too. One final thing about the remake of this game is that the progress players make in the demo will carry over to the full game version, so players do not delete it off your Nintendo Switch just yet.

Now, onto the main event which is dealing with Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. To start off, both games will be getting an expansion pass. Game Freak explained that it will be released in two parts, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, which are set for June 2020 and Fall 2020, respectively. The expansion packs will reflect Sword and Shield, which I find that bit to be interesting as I was working off the assumption that this expansion pack would be the same thing. However, to know that it will cater to each game is nice. I like that thought process when it comes to DLC, especially for Pokémon where players are sold on which game has which Pokémon and/ or alternate gym leaders. Also, we have learned that there will be new areas to explore, characters, Pokémon , outfits, legendary Pokémon , and more co-op play options. So, it seems as though Game Freak has covered every base I could think of when it comes to an expansion pass. It should also be noted that more than 200 Pokémon will be added to these areas, and players will be able to continue their journey using their current save data. This means players do not have to restart their journey, as we can pick up right where we left off.

Finally, the expansion passes will be available for pre-order for $29.99 later today. It is interesting seeing Nintendo going the route of getting players to pay for DLC. I honestly cannot blame them since it is shown that players will buy it. It is sad to see how video games has changed, but if the market wants to pay for DLC, why not give it to them? Anyways, that is all the news that came out of this Pokémon direct. I will link the entire conference down below, so fans can check it. I am still Benodinson and I’m out of here!
