Deadline has reported that Destin Daniel Cretton has been hired into an exclusive multi-year contract with Disney and Marvel Studios to work on several projects based on Shang-Chi. Additionally, Hulu’s Onyx Collective has also been enlisted to produce projects alongside Cretton. The first project that he will be working on is the new Shang-Chi based MCU series for Disney+. FINALLY, we have confirmation on the upcoming Shang-Chi film. Readers can obviously tell I, Ben, am happy that one of my favorite martial artists in the MCU will be getting his own film. Destin Daniel Cretton to Direct Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi’

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi. Cretton is best known for his 2013 film, Short Term 12, and 2017’s The Glass Castle.  For those who are not aware, the character is a Martial Artist of an Asian-American descent. He was created by Steve Engleheart and Jim Starlin. The character made his debut in Special Marvel Edition #15, which was released in December, 1973.
