The official Star Trek website has updated with the announcement that Playmates Toys will be returning to the Final Frontier. Playmates Toys and ViacomCBS Consumer Products have announced that have the license rights to produce figures, vehicles, role play, and more for the Star Trek franchise in 2022. According to the report, Playmates Toys will be producing products for Star Trek Prodigy, Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Lower Decks, and Star Trek Picard. Earlier today, Deadline reported that Kate Mulgrew will be reprising her role as Captain Janeway on Nickelodeon’s Star Trek: Prodigy. Longtime Star Trek fans will recognize Kate Mulgrew portrayed the iconic role of Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager, which aired in January 1995 through May 2001. Earlier this year, it was reported that a new animated series based on the Star Trek franchise was being considered for Nickelodeon. It was also reported that Kevin and Dan Hageman would be working as the head writers on the project. Today Variety has reported that the series has been greenlit. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kaiden, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Rath will be working as the executive producers. Aaron Baiers has been brought on to be the co-executive producer on the project. iO9 has reported that IDW Publishing will be publishing a comic miniseries that features both Star Trek characters and the Transformers. The new crossover miniseries titled, “Star Trek vs. Transformers,” will feature the bridge crew on the U.S.S.
