Recently a new trailer for Yo-Kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King (Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu) has been uploaded to the official Japanese Yo-Kai Watch Youtube channel. The latest trailer reveals more details about some of the characters in the film.
First, new voice cast members for the film was announced.
The new cast members include:
- Mane Kamishiraishi: Natsume Amano
- Yudai Chiba: Toma Tsukinami
The preview also reveals that Natsume is the future daughter of Keita, also know as Nathan Adams in the English Dub. Natsume will have the Yo-Kai Watch Elder, which she will use to fight against the Onimaro. Toma will be using the Kigan Gear for evil purposes. The trailer also features the main villain in the film, Raisen, the Oni King.
The film’s story is set place 30 years after the events of the Yo-Kai Watch anime series. Many years in the past there used to be a young who were able to see Yo-Kai with a mysterious watch. However, as he grew up he no longer had the ability to see Yo-Kai. Seeing as the Yo-Kai Watch fulfilled it’s duties the watch gets sent into space & time. After 30 years of peace a new threat appears as a comet draws near. A terrible Yo-Kai virus known as the Onimaro infects people causing them to have malevolent thoughts as it begins to spread. The new herald of the Yo-Kai Watch will need it’s strength to save both the human and Yo-Kai world.
The film will feature three new characters. One of the main protagonists is Natsume, who is a 13 year old girl who almost drowned in a river when she was younger although she saved by a mysterious being. The second main character, Toma is a 13 year old boy who is home alone due to his parents being busy throughout the day. The third main character is Akinori who is the oldest son of a family of fortune tellers.
Yo-Kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King will also feature guest characters who appear in the GeGeGe no Kitaro manga series by Shigeru Mizuki. One of the main characters from the various anime adaptation of the GeGeGe no Kitaro, Kitaro, will once again be voiced by Masako Nozawa. The other characters that will appear in the film include: Ittan Momen, Medama Oyaji, Konaki Jijii, Sunakake Babaa, Nezumi Otoko, and Neko Musume.
Yo-Kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King will premiere in Japan on December 16.
