September 2019 Nintendo Direct Streamed

Nintendo recently held their September 2019 Nintendo Direct, which featured a look at some of the upcoming Nintendo Switch titles.

First, the direct announced that Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game will launch for the system on October 15.

Next, the direct featured another look at Luigi’s Mansion 3. The video featured several new areas including Tomb Suites, The Dance Hall, The Spectral Catch, just to name a few. Additionally Nintendo unveiled a new game mode called ScreamPark where players will play as Team Luigi and Team Googi. Players will need to collect coins and also break targets. Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be released on October 31.

Third, the direct featured a look at a new Kirby game titled, “Super Kirby Clash.” The game will be free at start and will allow players to play together to fight bosses and more. Players will also be able to customize their Kirbies with special jobs. The game will be available on the Nintendo eShop later today.

Fourth, the direct took another look at the Trials of Mana remake. The game will feature voiced roles and a variety of updated features. Some examples including some new class switching abilities and characters will now have a full range of movement instead of the gameplay style featured in the original game. The Trials of Mana remake will be released in April 24, 2020. 

Fifth, the direct revealed that Return of Obra Dinn, which was originally exclusive to PC, will be released for the Nintendo Switch this Fall

Sixth, the direct took another look at Town. The game’s full title will be named Little Town Hero and will feature song compositions by Undertale’s Toby Fox. The game will be released on October 16 and players can pre-purchase the game later today.

Seventh, the direct took another look at Banjo Kazooie, who will be available as apart of the Fighter’s Pass. Banjo will be available later today.

Eighth, the direct confirmed that Terry Bogard from the Fatal Fury game series will be the fourth fighter in the Fighter’s Pass. He will be released in November 2019. Additionally, the direct confirmed that more DLC characters will be available in future after the release of the Fighter’s Pass.

Ninth, the trailer featured another look at the Legend of Zelda Links Awakening remake.The direct took another look at the Chamber Dungeon, which is a customizable dungeon. Amiibos will be able to save copies of created Dungeons so players can share them with their friends. The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening remake will be released on September 20.

10th, the direct featured a look at Dragon Quest XI S. Nintendo will be releasing a free Champion’s Pack, which will include several items and equipment. Dragon Quest XI S will be released on September 27.

11th, the direct revealed that an updated version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE titled, Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encode. The game will feature some new characters as well as a new song. The game will be released on January 17, 2020 and will be available for pre-purchase later today.

12th, the direct revealed a sequel for Deadly Premonition is in the works titled, “Deadly Premonition 2:A Blessing in Disguise.” The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch in 2020 and the original game will launch on the Nintendo eShop later today.

13th, it was revealed that Divinity: Original Sin 2: Definitive Edition will be headed to the Nintendo Switch later today. The game will also feature cross saves with the Steam version of the game.

14th, Pete Hines from Bethesda appeared to revealed that Doom 64 will be released for the Nintendo Switch on November 22.

15th, the direct featured a look at a new game from Hi-Rez Studios titled, “Rogue Company.” Not much else is known about this game, however it will be released in 2020.

16th, the direct took a look at Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. The direct featured at look at some of the new player customization abilities and a new feature titled, Pokemon Camp. Players will be able to play with their Pokemon at these camps and also visit other player’s camps online and each camp can hold up to four players at a time.

The direct featured a look at two new Pokémon species were revealed.

The new species include:

  • Poltegeist
    Type: Ghost
    Ability: Weak Armor
  • Cramorant
    Type: Water/ Flying
    Ability: Gulp Missile

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be released on November 15.

17th, it has been confirmed that SNES games will be released on the Nintendo Switch Online service. The games will launch on the service tomorrow.

  • Joe and Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
  • F-Zero
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3

  • Star Fox

  • Super Ghouls’n Ghosts

  • Super Mario World
  • Super Mario 2: Yoshi’s Island

  • Super Soccer

  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Additionally, a special Nintendo Switch SNES controller will be available for purchase to Nintendo Switch Online customers. Unlike the Nintendo Switch NES controllers it cannot connect to the console and will need to be charged via a wire. The controller will retail for $29.99 and a release date will be available at a later time.

18th, the direct featured a look at the Tetris 99 Ver 2.0 update. The free update will include a new mode called Tetris 99 Invictus, which only those who achieved the Tetris Maximus status can play. Daily missions will also be added to the game where players can unlock new skins. New icons will also be available. Wave 2 paid DLC confirmed has also been confirmed. Those who purchase the DLC can access the 2 player share battle mode and a local arena where players can play locally and up to 8 players. The update will be available later today. A physical version of the game that will include all the DLC and a 12 month paid Nintendo Online subscription will be released on September 6. 

19th, the direct featured a look at Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The direct took a look at several of the games including several of the retro events and story mode. The game will be released on November 5.

20th, the direct took another look at Daemon X Machina. While not much more was shown for the game a Prologue Demo will be available later today. Those who play the Prologue Demo will be able to transfer their save file to the main game. The game will be released on September 13. 

21st, the direct featured a surprise reveal of Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. The game was originally released for the Nintendo Gamecube, Windows, Xbox, and Macintosh in 2002. The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch on September 24.

22nd, the direct showcased some of the other upcoming releases for Nintendo Switch,

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition: October 15

  • Just Dance 2020: November 5

23rd, the direct featured another look at the various features of Animal Crossing New Horizon. The game will be released for the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.

Lastly, the direct revealed that an updated version of the original Xenoblade Chronicles titled,  Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.” The game will launch in 2020.

After the direct Masahiro Sakurai featured a presentation of Banjo Kazooie’s moveset and a look at the Spiral Mountain stage.

Sakurai also confirmed at 10 music tracks that will be released with Banjo Kazooie. The tracks were remixed by the original composer for the Banjo Kazooie franchise, Grant Kirkhope.

  • Gobi’s Valley

After taking a look at both his move set and the stage, Sakurai continued by revealing what else will be available as part of the Smash Bros Ultimate Version 5.0 update. First, Sakurai revealed that the final new mode that will be added to the game is a new version of Home Run Contest. Next, players will be able to customize moves from downloaded Mii Fighters, however only those that were created after the update.

Lastly, Sakurai revealed a new set of Mii Fighter Costumes, which include:

  • Goemon – Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon)
  • Protoman (Mega Man)
  • Zero (Mega Man X)
  • Team Rocket (Pokémon)
  • Sans (Undertale)

Each costume will be available separately later today priced at $.75 each and are not apart of the Figther’s Pass. Additionally those who purchase the Sans costume will also comes with the Megalovania track, which is San’s battle theme from Undertale.
