Avatar: The Last Airbender Live-Action Netflix Series

Yes, you’ve read the title correctly, Avatar: The Last Airbender is coming back as a live-action series on Netflix.  I know it’s a lot to take in so let’s break this down a bit. To start Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will be returning to work on this adaptation. The Netflix “See What’s Next” account on twitter broke this news not too long ago. Meanwhile Netflix “NX account”  confirmed that DiMartino and Konietzko will be working on the series.

The final piece of news comes from a statement made by DiMartino and Konietzko.

We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them.”

Overall, this made my day and I can’t wait to see what happens once we learn more about the show and the cast. I’m interested in seeing what small changes they’ll make since with a show on Netflix. They have the opportunity to go even deeper than what they were able too while on Nickelodeon. I’m hoping this exceeds everyone expectations and we could get a live-action Korra series but I’m thinking too far ahead. Anyway, those are my thoughts and I’ll catch you later.
