Black Lightning to End with Season 4

In some news I didn’t see coming is that Black Lightning is ending with it’s fourth season. This is some shocking news since last week we’ve learned that Chantal Thuy who plays Grace Choi was promoted to a series regular going forward. I don’t know how I feel about this happening at all. I’ve come to enjoy the Pierce family and the cultural impact it had on the Black community so this show will be missed.

To quote Salim Akil, executive producer on this series ”

“When we first started the Black Lighting journey, I knew that Jefferson Pierce and his family of powerful Black Women would be a unique addition to the super hero genre,” executive producer Salim Akil said in a statement. “The love that Blerds and all comic book fans around the globe have shown this series over the past three seasons proved what we imagined, Black People Want To See Themselves in all their complexities.”

He continued, “Thank you to the phenomenal cast, writers and crew without whom none of this would’ve been possible. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve been able to do and the moments we’ve been able to create in bringing DC’s first African-American family of super heroes to life for the culture.”

I’m still stunned by this announcement as I type this out. I was hoping we would get at least two more seasons before things ended. Anyway, let us know what you think and I’ll catch you next time.
