#ConLife2017 Magfest

What’s going on Club Members, coming at you with a new segment called #ConLife2017. Essentially this will be our tag on the website where you’ll see our con reviews, interviews, and photos.

Let’s get into this, I attended MAGFest for the first time this year. MAGFest is a convention that takes place the first week of January. It’s also takes place during my best friends birthday. So what better way to celebrate it than by attending a con together?

Anyway, MAGFest location is at the National Harbor in Maryland. A fantastic spot to have a convention. My only regret is that it wasn’t warm like it was a few days after the fact. I only attended Saturday so my ticket cost me about $55.00 for an entire day. Gaming wise, there was so many games to play. MAGFest focuses on music and gaming and I felt that presence there. They have a huge room in which you can play nothing but the current console systems. Another room where they have nothing but arcade games. I just felt like MAGFest had a game for everyone in one way or another.

Crowd wise, I felt MAGFest was perfect. Katsucon also uses the Gaylord Hotel and it feels overcrowded at times. Meanwhile at MAGFest I felt like I had room and as a big guy it felt nice. I didn’t feel like I was blocking or in the way. Whereas with Katsucon, I just feel like I’m holding people up.

MAGFest has a more chilled vibe. Everyone is there to sit back, listen to some music, and above all else have a good time. I got to met a ton of friends both new and old during my Saturday there. So it was definitely worth it overall. Next year I do plan on attending for all four days to get the full effect of the convention. I really wish I got to attend a few of the panels along with hearing Richie Branson live. As I’ve been a fan of his music since 2011, so one of my goals is to see him do his thing.

Final thoughts, MAGFest is a really good convention to start the New Year off with. I honestly had a great time and would love nothing more than to attend again next year. Finally the photo gallery is down below as well.  Until the next #ConLife2017, I’m still XBen3000 and I’m out!
