DC Comics Cut Ties with Diamond Comic Distributors

We have some huge comic book news coming out of The Hollywood Reporter today. DC is cutting ties with Diamond Comics Distributors. Now, this is a huge thing for comic book fans since Diamond for the longest time has always had the monopoly when it comes to distributing comic books. So, this a massive shake up and that is putting it lightly. To quote a DC spokesperson about this email.

After 25 years, DC and Diamond Comic Distributors are ending their long-standing relationship. Moving forward, comic book retailers can obtain their DC books from Penguin Random House, or their books and periodicals through Lunar or UCS comic book distributors. DC continues to be committed to providing the Direct Market with best in class service and the fans with the world’s greatest comic books.

I knew DC was planning on finding another method when it came to comic distribution thanks to Covid-19, but I did not think they would go through with it. I mean Diamond Comics Distributors has the monopoly over the comic book industry in North America forever. Like, no one else can compare to Diamond, so this happening really is a sign of things to come.

Overall, I am hoping DC is successful when it comes this. Hopefully this will lead to other comic book companies doing the same thing, and creating their own means of comic distribution. I know not everyone has the money to do it, but I am hopeful Marvel could follow suite as well. Anyways, that is all the comic book news I have for now, so readers be sure to stick with Hero-Club for all the news you care about. Nevertheless, I’m Ben and I’m out of here for now!
