Discotek Media Licenses Kamen Rider Black for North American Distribution

Recently, Distock Media hosted their “A Very Spooktacular Discotek Day” livestream to announce their upcoming home media releases. However, their stream kicked off with a bang, as their next title under their Toku Time label is Kamen Rider Black! Yes, Kamen Rider Black is joining Discotek Media’s library, and not joining the Shout! Factory line-up of releases. For those unaware, the series is the eighth installment in the long-running Kamen Rider franchise, having aired from October 4, 1987 to October 9, 1988. The series spans across 51 episodes, two television specials, and two theatrical films for the character during the show’s original run.

Now, this collection will be a high-definition release on a 5-Disc Blu-Ray set, consisting of all 51-episodes. Unfortunately, this complete series Blu-Ray release will not contain the series’ accompanying films or specials. However, the set will include several bonus features like a cast reunion and roundtable discussion. Also, Mike Dent will be contributing another tokusatsu essay for this release regarding Kamen Rider Black’s history and production.

Currently, the Kamen Rider Black Complete Series is scheduled for 2023 release. As a result, the exact date and price will be confirmed at a later time. Nevertheless, we hope Kamen Rider fans stayed tuned for more updates regarding this release!
